These orthodox icons are an artist’s reproduction (detail) of an existing original icon. The icons are hand painted in the traditional way, using powder colors of stones with a mixture of egg and vinegar. The technique which is used is the famous Cretan School of Theophanes. Both the Punchwork and Water Guilding techniques are used to create these icons. The materials which have been used are natural lime wood covered with chalk primer, specially treated for timeless duration. The icon’s backgrounds are created with 22.5 Carat Water Gilding Gold Leaves.
